Forgiveness is alive; it is a living breathing experience you choose
for yourself. It’s not always easy but the alternative is just plain
painful because letting old hurts stay stuck will pose a threat to your
physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
well-being.
Hanging onto a grudge or feeling resentful can be very tempting; focusing on blame or anger can be an effective way of deflecting how hurt we feel. And it can be incredibly difficult to let go of the satisfaction of being “right”. But the truth is that holding on, holds you back. It robs you of being able to move forward with your life.
I’ve heard stories from people who’ve had horrific experiences yet have been able to find forgiveness. It may have taken years, but eventually they found a way. Some were so angry they said, “Never!” but each one reached a point where they asked: who is really being hurt by my refusal to forgive?
The shift was almost immediate once they heard the honest answer: it was them who was being hurt the most. Forgiveness isn’t for others, it’s for you. It is what lets you learn, love and live with grace. It is the force by which you are able to make peace with your past and take full responsibility for your life.
This Sunday Kate Stephenson continues exploring forgiveness and gives you the opportunity to experience the process yourself. You deserve healing, my friend…you deserve to live in your natural state of peace, power and freedom.
